Your City Block

As comic con descended upon Downtown San Diego all things art came to the forefront.

During that weekend one panel discussion held was focused on the ties between Visual Artists and Musical Innovators specifically Hip-Hop.

Two of the Visual Artists participating were Gloria “Glow” Muriel & Erin Yoshi, and luckily we were able to organize a wall for them to display their artwork to our Comic Con guests as well as #YourCityBlock Community.

As a testament to the Hip-Hop element of Free-styling, Gloria and Yoshi put together the piece “La Luna” with no preconceived plan. They simply painted what came to mind as the two worked over two days.

Below is a little more information about each artist and where you can stay up to date on their other projects:

GLORIA MURIEL

Gloria Muriel teases at our subtle, curious states of mind by depicting natural phenomena in her urban art, fine art, and installation art.

With brush, spray can, and roller, Gloria’s intention is to awaken hearts and open minds to the raw novelty of the present moment.

ERIN YOSHI

Born in Los Angeles, Yoshi’s artwork is a reflection of her journey through the contradictions of life amplifying the beautiful, the raw, and the downright ugly.

The work is rooted in her historic cultural memories and informed by current global conditions and through her practice, she strives to create hope and lines of camaraderie.
