We love the Padres, we love Petco Park, and we love East Village! However, the City of San Diego has rolled out Special Event parking meter rates within about a half-mile of the ballpark. That means the parking meters near Quartyard will jump to $10/hour during Padres games and other large Petco Park events . For more info on this visit sandiego.gov/specialevents.
We want to share some tips and info with you to help save time and money.
When Do Special Event Rates Apply?
- They kick in about 2 hours before the start of the game or concert.
- They last until 4 hours after the event begins.
- Example: If a concert starts at 7:00 PM, the $10/hour rate will run from 5:00 PM – 11:00 PM.
Tip: Always check the meter before you pay. Event times change and so do enforcement hours.
Here’s a list of upcoming dates this applies to:

Parking Hacks to Save You Time & $$$
1. Free After 6 PM (Yellow Curb)
Most yellow curbs are free after 6 PM until 6 AM the next day and on Sundays.
2. Watch the 20-Foot Rule
California’s new daylighting law means you can’t park within 20 feet of an intersection crosswalk. Tickets run about $107, so it’s worth the extra look before you lock. More info here.

3. Don’t Risk It
Red, white, or blue curbs = don’t park unless you’re properly permitted. Not worth the tow or ticket!
